PAN Condemns Morena's Rejection of Transparency

The National Action Party (PAN) bench in the Congress of Mexico City has expressed its sorrow and condemnation regarding Morena's refusal to support the agreement presented by Deputy Federico Chávez Semerena. This proposal aimed to request transparency in the operation of traffic control systems such as photo cameras, speed radars, and mobile radars recently implemented in the capital.

In its rejection, the PAN asserted that Morena is turning its back on the city's inhabitants and protecting an opaque system of unfair charges. According to the party, instead of improving traffic safety, these systems seem designed to increase government revenues at the expense of citizens. Federico Chávez Semerena, PAN deputy, criticized Morena's stance, stating: "We receive reports every day from motorists who, while respecting speed limits, see the flash of the cameras and do not know if they will receive an unfair fine."

The PAN has reiterated its call for transparency, verification, and justice in the photo camera system. The lack of clear information about the location of radars, their calibration, and the number of fines issued creates uncertainty and distrust. Deputy Semerena emphasized that "Morena should be concerned about improving mobility and road infrastructure instead of extorting the citizens of the capital." For the PAN, citizens deserve a fair and transparent traffic system, not a scheme disguised as security to raise funds.

Despite the rejection faced in Congress, the PAN of Mexico City will continue to demand transparency in the enforcement of traffic sanctions and accountability in the use of resources generated by fines.
